One of the bigger topics I’ve been getting hit with this week is on the topic of finding and developing your own sound.
As musicians and as bass players, we are constantly looking for ways to carve ourselves as unique, original and something special and many of us are left feeling disillusioned: are we really finding our own sound? Are we really that original?
Though there are many different opinions that read upwards of a thousand words to finding your own sound and that there are many “How To” solutions around the Internet. Few helpful, many obvious solutions without much backbone to them.
In this Thursday podcast, I wanted to address this particular topic and provide some very practical, to-the-point discussion material about finding your own sound as a musician and as a bass player. I wanted to share a personal story of how I feel like I’ve developed a sound and a musical identity that I believe is uniquely my own in hopes that listeners will have something to reflect on and think about with regards to their own sound.
